Demystifying Buzzwords: “Transparency”
In the Demystifying Buzzwords series, I’ll pick common political buzzwords—that are often thrown around without clear definitions—and dig into what they mean to me.
Transparency is a common buzzword that gets thrown around a lot in politics. I believe in the importance of being transparent with you and want you to know exactly what I mean when I say that I will be transparent both in my campaign work and in my work as your County Board Supervisor.
Clear positions with concrete explanations
I aim to go beyond “fluff” to tell you how I will work to make change in the county that are aligned with my values and your needs. I will define buzzwords (such as transparency, equity, fairness, and safety) and discuss how I envision those values being practiced in Dane County.
You’ll always know where I stand. In my blogging, my aim is to dive deeper on decisions, actions, and rationale so that you understand the why. For example, as a companion to my recent testimony on PHMDC emergency orders, I published this blog post.
Connections and conversations with you
A key part of transparency is making sure that we have opportunities to talk. I want to hear about your values, concerns, and vision for Dane County, and I’m honored by the opportunity to share my thoughts with you. We grow together as a community through open conversation.
Publicly available information
I want to make sure you know how to find out more about me. All candidates are required to go through processes for candidacy that includes sharing key information, but not everyone knows where to find that information. Here’s a link to the County Clerk’s campaign finance reports, where you can see how my campaigns are funded and what we spend.
