February 21 primary election endorsements

Today, I am releasing my endorsements for the February 21st Primaries. Don’t forget to vote in this critical election!

City of Madison Aldermanic

District 3: Derek Field

In our conversations, I’m consistently impressed by Derek’s knowledge and data-driven approach to solving many of the problems we face—including housing affordability, clean air and water, safe driving, and public safety. Solutions will require ongoing responsiveness to real-time data and close collaboration between the City, County, and our partners throughout these systems. Derek will deliver this mindset and I look forward to working with him in mutual service to the East Side!

District 10: Yannette Figueroa Cole

Yannette’s leadership is exactly what we need at this moment. She brings a highly collaborative and solutions-focused mindset to every conversation. Her work on preventing violence, reducing homelessness, mentoring new leaders, and increasing transparency have made Madison a better place—and she’s only getting started. I look forward to continuing our work together!

City of Madison Mayoral

Satya Rhodes-Conway

In Satya’s first term, Madison launched and expanded CARES response, significantly expanded the Affordable Housing Development Fund, and made substantial progress in the City’s goal of net-zero emissions by 2030. These are just a few examples of how Satya is working to modernize Madison while making it a better place to live for all of us. I can’t wait to continue our work together as City and County leaders in this critical shared mission!

Supreme Court of Wisconsin

Everett Mitchell

Everett demonstrates bone-deep caring for our neighbors who most need it. This is reflected in his leadership in, for example, building bridges from his courtroom to educational opportunities, making sure court-involved young people have food to eat, and ensuring that all parties fully understand the judicial process and the meaning behind various decisions along the way. His focus on dignity for all is exactly what we need in our next Supreme Court Justice!

I’m also proud to endorse Jael Currie (City of Madison Aldermanic District 16), Michelle Ellinger Linley (City of Madison Aldermanic District 18), and Nicki Vander Meulen (Madison Board of Education). You can learn more and get involved now, but you’ll have to wait until April to vote for them.

I will announce additional endorsements for April races as that election draws closer. (If you’re running and you’ve not reached out, you really ought to do that. Also, thank you for running to serve our community!)
