Public Works update: Reporting landfill odors, grants for organic waste management

Two key updates from Public Works:

A new way to report landfill odor concerns

Dane County has launched a new online reporting form for reporting landfill odors. Check it out here.

The new reporting mechanism is key to ongoing data collection in this area. Here in District 17, things seem to have improved following measures taken in 2018 and 2019 to curb odors. But we don’t know where there are ongoing issues unless we have the data!

Applications open for Organics Management Grant

The Organics Management Grant is intended to help fund projects that reduce or eliminate the amount of organic materials, such as food scraps and yard waste, from the landfill. Projects that support food waste reduction or creative reuse will also be considered under this grant.

All Dane County businesses, institutions, municipalities, Native American tribal governments and organizations, community groups and nonprofit organizations are eligible!

Click here to learn more and to apply. Grants are approved and funds will be dispersed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
